Charcuterie Tree

This charcuterie tree turns salami, prosciutto, cheeses, and fresh produce into a festive no-cook appetizer arranged on a serving board. Bite-size cheese cubes, colorful rows, rosemary edges, and a cheddar star make the tree easy to serve.

Ingredients

  • 1 block (8 oz) sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 block (8 oz) Monterey Jack cheese
  • 8 oz salami thinly sliced
  • 4 oz prosciutto thinly sliced
  • 2 cups red grapes
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • 1 cup green olives pitted
  • 4 rosemary fresh sprigs
  • 6 pretzel rods

Equipment

  • 1 18x12-inch serving board

Method

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the grapes and tomatoes.
  2. Cut a small star from a thin slice of the cheddar.
  3. Cut the remaining cheddar and the Monterey Jack into bite-size cubes.
  4. On an 18x12-inch serving board, arrange the salami, prosciutto, cheeses, grapes, tomatoes, and olives in rows that form a tree shape, starting narrow at the top and widening toward the bottom.
  5. Place the cheddar star at the top, the rosemary along the tree’s edges, and the pretzel rods together at the base for a trunk.
  6. Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate until serving.
  7. Discard perishable food left at room temperature for more than 2 hours, or 1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F.

Notes

Thoroughly dry the grapes and tomatoes so they stay in place on the board. Cover and refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; do not freeze. Use gluten-free pretzel rods for a gluten-free option.
