Bacon Crackers

Bacon crackers are buttery crackers wrapped in bacon, topped with brown sugar, and slowly baked until crisp and bubbly. The low oven temperature gives the sugar time to caramelize around each savory bite.

Ingredients

  • 24 crackers buttery rectangular, such as Club crackers
  • 12 slices bacon regular-cut
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed, light

Equipment

  • 1 rimmed baking sheet

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 250°F.
  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and set a wire rack on the sheet.
  3. Cut each bacon slice in half crosswise.
  4. Wrap one piece of bacon around each cracker.
  5. Place the crackers seam-side down on the rack.
  6. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon brown sugar over each cracker.
  7. Bake for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until the bacon is crisp and the sugar is bubbly.
  8. Let the crackers cool on the rack for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For the crispiest result, arrange the crackers seam-side down and leave space between them on the rack. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended. Use gluten-free buttery crackers for a gluten-free variation.
